Why are Certifications Important?

When it comes to choosing an Electronics Recycling or Retired Technology Asset you want to make sure that the electronics turned over to the recycler are handled responsibly and disposed of in a way that meets or exceeds Best Managed Recycling Practices.

Certifications are not easy to come by, cost money and take a considerable amount of time to complete. This effort gives those who choose to recycle with SSI the confidence that their materials have been handled correctly, responsibly and in a secure fashion.

SSI will continue to be the industry leader and is committed to be R2/RIOS certified by January of 2010 which will include OHSAS 18001 Certification giving SSI a total of six Certifications. Our commitment to provide the highest quality services prompted us to attain the following key certifications:

• ISO 14001- 2004: Environmental Management Systems
• ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
• International Association of Electronics Recyclers (IAER) Certified Electronics Recycler® (will be replaced by R2/RIOS January 2010)
• National Association for Information Destruction (NAID): Certification on Electronic Data Sanitization and Destruction
• OHSAS 18001: Occupational Health and Safety (January 2010)
