Data Sanitization and Shredding Services

SSI is one of the few companies that have spent the time and capital to secure NAID (Data Sanitization/Destruction) Certification for Destroying Information on Retired Electronic Equipment. SSI knows that when you are entrusted with retired electronic equipment that may have valuable data stored on it, it is important to work with a company that takes that trust seriously.

SSI performs rigorous data destruction tasks to CPUs, servers and hard drives. One of our corporate customers (a Fortune 100 Insurance Company) sent our data sanitized laptops to their forensic lab for testing. The forensic lab verified that all the data in every laptop was 100% erased.

There are several methods to ensure the destruction of electronic data:

• For nonfunctional and nonresalable CPUs, SSI will shred the hard drives as a standard practice. Every unit that SSI demanufactures has the hard drive removed in a secure area for secure disposal.

  SSI’s IT Department has established a set of stringent procedures for data sanitization adhering to the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (i.e., Department of Defense, DoD, specifications 5220.22-M for data destruction).
  
  SSI is the only company at present in the Midwest that has received the prestigious NAID (National Association for Information Destruction) Data Sanitization and Destruction Certification. (Nationally, only four companies have received NAID certification.) NAID randomly selected hard drives from our sanitized hard drive inventory and sent them to their forensic lab for testing. All the data in every hard drive was 100% erased. In addition, NAID has stringent requirements on personnel background checking, drug testing, transportation security, processing procedure security and facility security measurements. It is a certification that is very hard to obtain.
